... Vicki likened the hotel to a motel on Nepean highway in rosebud. Not far wrong. Even though the beach was a fair walk in the heat I took off back to the beach for a lovely swim while the others rested in air con when it got started again. Strangely my room was again the far better one with a view and working air con as it has been the entire trip. Normally they always win out. Maybe the Camino positivity is following ...

Slight problem another wrong phone number on our sheet and incorrect address for hotel...pleased to find this out now not end of walk tomorrow. It was too too hot for many ...

Ended up in the pretty fishing village, Acciaroli, after 41/2 hours walk in the hot sun but we were lucky to have the odd coastal breeze occasionally and headed straight for a gelati shop on the marina in the town , plonked down and stayed there for about 2 hours. This trip has been a bit messy getting from place to ...

... the wrong one! And crazy looks from locals when we told them where we had walked from...and this was only 2 hours of walking! Temperature rising, hottest July day for 10 years, well into 30's, climbed for 2 hours through rugged countryside finding the odd bit of yellow paint when painted on a rock or tree, at a beautiful hotel restaurant called a palazzo and plonked down, shoes off and lots of cold drinks. Took off ...

... experience, and is one of the reasons I decided to study Asian culture at university. A people so different from the culture I'm used to in Australia can still be fundamentally the same. Though the differences are so striking. One day, sitting on the back porch of Nancy's house in rural Borneo (where we had travelled to for our 'community phase' of our trip - queue the upstart white kids and by extension white culture attempting to 'help', 'civilise' and 'westernise' ...
