... not-so-easy" task. Driving in Florence a few years ago comes to mind where the city streets do not remotely resemble a reasonable North America grid street arrangement!

Today, we when left our apartment to pick up our car at the Stazione Termini (central rail station) in Rome, I must say that I was a little intimidated. Having observed Rome's drivers for the last few days, it was obvious they made up their own rules of the road on many occasions. The only ...

... selection of cheeses. Yummy, a perfect lunch for a hot day. Around 4:00p.m., I began my dinner preparation. In unwrapping the pork, each slice was approximately the size of any 8" x 12" piece of notebook paper. I did not cook all four, it was just grotesquely too much. In looking at the meat, I was horrified as to just what this cut was? It was humongous and ever so strange. "Oh dear... What a challenge this is going to be!" I said out loud, almost afraid ...

... and one small grocery we went back to the boat. Just off the stern of Milena, friends of Jacques were offering us a cold cup if sangria. Wow, did that taste good, in this all too hot town, behind a huge break wall to the sea. Once on Milena, we all sat down, and shared a liter of cold water, before anyone could think of either preparing or eating lunch. Cold lunch meats, and a Greek-Italian green salad was perfect, as we washed it down with a very mild white ...

Sept. 14: Panarea to Palinuro (12-hour crossing)

5:45a.m., Milena's engine came alive, breaking the otherwise silence of the pre-dawn night. We were off.... For the next 12 hours, we will be making our way to the Southern Italian coast. I was still in bed, and hoping the crossing was going to be a good one. To my utter amazement, the sea was calmer the tiny bay we have been in for the last two nights. With a Ho-hum, I curled up in my sleep-sac, under my duvet, and went fast asleep..... ...

      Marina di Camerota

A travel blog entry by margaretreilly on Apr 24, 2014

Yesterday left Positano. We took a shuttle to Salerno then picked up a car from Avis. The coast road from Positano to Salerno was truly breathtaking and the driver quite friendly and tried to explain a few sights along the way. Headed south and stopped at some Greek ruins in Paestrum which dated back to BC. Weather a little cold and rainy or we probably would have stayed longer. Took the scenic root to Marina di Camerota. Stopped at Bascillicata and had a late lunch at a little pizzeria. ...
