... a slight cloud cover. It made for a beautiful night! Couple that with reflection in the water and the bells from St. Mark's-beautiful. Things I miss from the States : large glasses of ice water. For a city built on water, the Italians are much more liberal with their alcohol and wine than their water. You must ask and the glasses are tiny!!!! Most of their bottled water is "with gas" as the say. When in Italia . . ...

There are of course many exceptions to this (though I can't think of any off the top of my head), but in regards to Ristorante Quadri, where we had a very expensive meal in Venice, that is exactly what we got. ... Agora in Athens and maybe even climbed the Duomo in Florence but alas, it wasn’t on the plan. On all of our tours we felt well taken care of. Some tours were larger and we had some of the small group tours as well. I’m not sure it made much difference. Once you arrive at the sites everyone is all together in the crowd anyway whether you are on a bus tour with 40 others or doing the port on your own. ...

... name, but it was amazing. The walls were covered in huge paintings and some of the ceilings also. Very ornate!

We decided to stop for our afternoon snack at a little restaurant, Osteria ai Carmini which had an interesting array of dishes displayed on its outside wall. We shared a Fritte ai Carmini which was seafood and vegetable straws cooked in a very light tempura batter. Yummy, but the interesting thing was that there were herb leaves tempureed ...
