Euromaster Pneus, Place du Champs de Foire, 4.30pm

I am sitting outside a garage waiting for my car's tyre to be fixed. I just discovered it was going flat. Not what you really want on holiday but serves me right for ignoring the shiny metal thing I saw lodged in there a ...

          Cappuccino without chocolate

... all up the Maurienne valley has been cloudy and rainy – and snowy higher up – all day. Generally grim in other words. Here is actually sunny, albeit a bit chilly.

... I could not reach the top on a bike I had borrowed for the afternoon. I was only a couple of miles short but the muscles in my legs had run out of capacity, shall we say. So I’ve come for a recce before I attempt the same ride this week. ...

          Hotel St Georges, 10pm

Today I have been pretty much entirely driving my car. From 8.30am to 6pm with a few quick stops.

There appear to be a few positive side effects of paying tolls to use the motorways in France. Such as there is less traffic, and I guess, consequently the traffic flows more smoothly and faster. And lots of service areas to stop and use a toilet or get some air before you drop ...
