Arriving in Moorea, Society Islands, FP

... harbour of Cook's Bay, Moorea into a golden green. So green, it looks like it has been painted by some mad painter that was colour blind. The lush greenery goes from the sea shore to the tips of the highest peaks that tower some 1500 feet above this beautifully calm and serene anchorage. Mountains, so majestic and wind worn, that it looks like some giant has taken bites out of the ridges to leave impossible shapes that defy gravity. Surely ...

It's wonderful revisiting Moorea

... room. Food was very good, but after Reg Ginger last night, the main dining room was a let-down :-( Nothing really to complain at all about the food and service, just can't be compared with Red Ginger.

After dinner, Fran and I wondered around the shops (they just opened today). Bob "went to work" in the casino for a little. Then Bob and I walked the 14th floor deck, probably a mile. I am very tired now. Bob went back to "work" again and I am going to bed.

... and that amazing azure water. Wow!

I’d booked a 3.5 hour ATV Raid Adventure for the early afternoon so there was no rush to take the tender ashore. So we just wandered around up on deck 12 and tried to soak it all in. It is just too beautiful for words. All I could think of was that Bora Bora is going to have to be amazing to top this. And we hadn’t been to Huahine either!

We went across to the shore on the ...

We then continue to the motu. The island is still uninhabited but it looks like they are building a kind of a hut – for tourists? We hope it is not the case, so we can keep it as our small island.

We do some snorkeling around the island. There are some beautiful coral and fish but we remembered it nicer before. We learned at the scuba diving center ...

Great stay ... not one of those flash over the water places ( USD$750+ a night), but a beautiful beach and great facilities and rooms. The BEST breakfast restaurant setting ever !!!!
Nice to spread out in the room ... bedroom, bathroom, lounge and kitchen areas

    Honeymooners Heaven

One thing up front: you WILL meet a lot of honeymooners! The rooms are clean, the bungalows seemed nice and spacious (from outside) and the beach is beautiful. Unfortunately the restaurant prices are over the top (although the portions are small) and the roosters are annoying (but the hotel can't do anything truly).

All in all a solid stay, discounts are made if you go diving with the onsite dive center Scubapiti, just at least a watercooker in the basic rooms would be nice, to have at least a cup of tea or a noodle snack without having to go to the restaurants in the hotel.

The service at the reception desk is good, the restaurant staff takes their time and they are right: it's your holidays, isn't it?
