      The best beach in Moorea

Great stay ... not one of those flash over the water places ( USD$750+ a night), but a beautiful beach and great facilities and rooms. The BEST breakfast restaurant setting ever !!!!
Nice to spread out in the room ... bedroom, bathroom, lounge and kitchen areas

      Honeymooners Heaven

One thing up front: you WILL meet a lot of honeymooners! The rooms are clean, the bungalows seemed nice and spacious (from outside) and the beach is beautiful. Unfortunately the restaurant prices are over the top (although the portions are small) and the roosters are annoying (but the hotel can't do anything truly).

All in all a solid stay, discounts are made if you go diving with the onsite dive center Scubapiti, just at least a watercooker in the basic rooms would be nice, to have at least a cup of tea or a noodle snack without having to go to the restaurants in the hotel.

The service at the reception desk is good, the restaurant staff takes their time and they are right: it's your holidays, isn't it?

... After that first dive, we did three more dives in and around the same area of the island, but fairly different each time. The first dive we were able to do together was a half decent dive, a toodle around just outside of the reef break, checking out all of the wildlife including a turtle, some black tip reef sharks, and tons and tons of fish! The waters here are usually perfect conditions for diving! As long as the weather on the surface isn't too bad, there's generally ...

... Franc bill with me (about #120 Canadian). I went with some Aussies to a local bar that had brought in 6 tons of sand to have a beach party. Once there I started talking with some locals and this guy who I guess is a bit of a high roller invites me to sit with him. He pulls out his 10 000 Franc bill and buys a bottle of vodka for me and his friends. That's about as far as my memory goes but the next day when I went to check my wallet for the damages from the night before ...

Besides the obvious seafood dishes you'd run into in French Polynesia, we also lived on peanut butter sandwhiches, since the french baguette was the cheapest food you could find on any of the islands! At $1 a two foot baguette, its safe to say we gained a bit of weight eating all those carbs!

      Yes, those first two ...
