Oh he of little faith!

... and stuff - can't remember exactly - that says it all doesn't it?) From Martigny, we were catching the Mont Blanc Express. There wasn't much at Martigny station - certainly no staff or an information desk. We found a timetable near a siding - there was construction work and we'd have to take a bus for about 28 minutes. That was okay - I'd suspected construction from someone's comments on Trip Adviser. Even though it ended up adding ...

His take on the day (and her photos):

It was a quick drive up from Aosta, only about an hour, leaving Italy behind, travelling through the Mont Blanc tunnel (11km) and exiting into ...

... dominated by the train station. It handles 1 million passengers a year (many are students), roofing slate and scrap metal from the adjacent steelworks. The result is ugly, maybe reflective of the fact that until 2002 it was managed by military railway engineers! It reminds me of Newcastle or Woollongong circa 1970.

Sarina strikes again!

... A very enjoyable meal with lots of silly chat. Have to admit to being more than a tad nervous about the descent! But once I got the hang of it it was good fun. . with occasional bouts of 'oh **** im going over the edge'! It is actually very beautiful whooshing down the cat track in the dark snowy trees. I'm so glad I did this! We all made it to the bottom of Le Rouge safe and sound.
A brilliant evening!

Blue sky!

... jobs. The highlight of the day had to be the lovely Sarina bringing me cream tea! Leftovers from the guests beautifully wrapped in a tinfoil carrier, two scones complete with cream and jam and a cup of tea. How spoiled am I? It's very good to know I'm not forgotten when I'm tucked away downstairs in my bat-cave.
Quiet night in at our apartment, all 3 girlies in bed by 9.30-rock'n'roll!
