    We leave for Sion today in the Swiss Alps. We are staying in a small alpine village called Nax which is high in the hillside overlooking Sion and the surrounding areas. Steve is today's driver but an hour of so into the trip he has a coughing attack and Russell takes the wheel. Today's drive is 260 km but will take us around 3 - 4 hours due to driving through the alps. The country side changes dramatically and becomes so majestic once we enter Switzerland. We ...

    We glided smoothly in and landed in the grassy field. Great fun!

    ... by the mountain climbers on the snow covered glacier below and to our left were sharp peaks as far as the eye could see. Having lived in Banff for a year, I've seen my fair share of mountains, but this was really something else. To look over and see the glacier running down from Mont Blanc to the valley below is just crazy and there was even a small avalanche while we were over there. We were expecting -8 degrees at the summit, but it was quite warm at 0 degrees.
