Hotel Les Palis Grand Fougeray

I went just one day to Rennes. I thought it was really pretty since all of the houses are made of
rough stones, des maisons bretonnes typiques. Aussi, les maisons sont faites
toutes un peu croches, ca donne un petit style que j'aimais bien.



Et oui effectivement, il fait beau plusieurs fois par jour. It does rain a LOT.
There is mainly what is in every french city, bars, restaurants and shoe shops!

Been chopping some wood for the fire for the last 2 days with ayms cousins and family. 1 of ayms cousins has an old merc he doesnt need, so he has told us we can have it.
Its gonna cost qbout 400 euros to get in insured, mot and on the road, but im hoping rose and mickou will come and split the costs with us.
Petrol to tunisia through spain and africa will cost about 300 euros so its not too bad, hoping to get work in south of france next week to fund it.

... a new town or city is far more compelling than grannies lovely soup. The plan is to move on in the next few days, possibly meeting up with my friends Rose and Mickou (sp) if we can get work along the way.

Monday aymerick and i went to rennes, but the library was closed and the camping shop also that we wanted to go to, so we had a few beers instead.
The last bus back to st thurial was 740 but we decided to make a night of it in rennes. The intital plan was to go see a few french punk bands but it turned out the place was half an hour away by bus so we stayed in the centre of rennes.

Rennes, like most of france ive seen so far is very oldie, with large victorian ( i know victoria was the english queen but you get it) buildings and a scenic river or maybe a canal running through it.

Todays friday, and after the weekend we're on our way again, after we've made a few rings and stuff to sell on the way. Im working on a locket made from a coconut seeds ...

After a heavy drinking session,( some things dont change eh? ), which included playing dire straits, the killers, kings of leon etc with some french guys in a 'pub', which was more reminiscent of someones front room, and aymerick thinking he'd lost his guitar we decided we'd outstayed or very kind hosts welcome and drove in eddys van to St Thurial, about 30km away ...

... in the middle. Anyways, we only spent about an hour in town, was not too lively. I think we made the lady's day at the tourist office as we were probably her only clients that day....then back in the car heading south......i keep asking jason if he's ******* on the drive down when the top is down as we have gone through some really stinky patches, but he is blaming the cows in the countryside that we are passing....not sure, do u think it was the cows or jason?????

... We were both getting sick of the gravel, and we didn’t want to go into the city anyways. What a difference the pavement made! Went from cruising along at 15 km/hr to 25! A very nice change as Brian was quite discouraged at our progress along the canal. Thought that we would be traveling much further distances each day.

Arriving at Nort sur Erdre we encountered a problem I have been waiting for ...

... very rough for our poor tires and panniers. Giving up Brian took his own path and soon we were cruising along the smooth peaceful canal again.

Luckily, we passed through a little town just before the noon closing today, so we were able to get some tasty bread and pastries to go with our wine and cheese picque nique. A beautiful sunny day, we sat and enjoyed our food while avoiding being pelted by the falling acorns.

Lovely place, recommended by a hotelier in Derval who couldn't fit us in for the night. One of the best kitted-out hotels I've ever come across in the main square (Logis de France Les Palis in Place de l'Eglise), with a cheapo classic french cafe next door if you can't afford the hyper-classy menu in the hotel.
