    ... Ibis.

We ended up getting to the hotel at about 8 PM, so didn't have time to go back into town for dinner and to see the city. It was a bit of a bugger considering we won't have time tomorrow as we are at CERN all day. Instead, we went next door to a nice Italian place. I had an awesome risotto, and many of the others got other fantastic looking pasta dishes and pizzas.

Woke up to another beautiful day. Hotel Pavillon had been excellent and a great place to relax for the night. Dinner was a 5 course meal with great wine to celebrate harriet's birthday. Next stop Lavachey, still in Italy but just a small hamlet. -- ...

Knowing that we wouldn't have too hard a day (yeah right), I convinced everyone to take a side detour to Lac Jovet, an additional 1.5 hours and 900 feet of elevation... You know what they say, in for a penny, in for a pound. After returning from ...

We started in Chamonix and took a crowded cable car up the mountain. After a while of hiking on relatively flat surface we crossed a rope bridge underneath a glacier. It was very pretty standing in the middle of the bridge looking over the water, one of the highlights of the day. After this we started a long, seemingly endless trek uphill. At the top we ate lunch looking out over the beautiful view. Next, we started ...

... flight. I was taken to the summit/take off point about 15 mind drive away. The others followed in the car so they could watch me take off. I was strapped in to my harness with my flight guide Guillaume and given strict instructions on what to do when. We took off and were lifted into the air. It was such a magical experience and not at all daunting or nerve wracking. It was quite surreal soaring so high above the landscape ...
