Tonight, to make up, after some icy-cold Proseco, Treas cooked a superb fresh trout, with salad, some chilled local white, and a little Amaretto as a night-cap. Nice!
I like it here and I think we might stay for a few days before we return good old Dulcie to ...

... the hike was very steep downhill. (Tomorrow we go up!) We passed plenty of cows and sheep and a few donkeys. No wild life, but the birds were singing to us while we trekked through the forest and many of the cows and sheep jingled their bells as we passed. On our way we crossed into Italy, so we swapped our Bonjours ...

... for about 3 kms, which was heavy going, down a mainly gravelly track/ road. We arrived at a lovely little village where there was a market. Some bought coffee, some pastries. Then we headed up again, and up again and up again. The views were amazing, we walk up to cols ( like a saddle ) then down to another ridge, then up again. There is lots of snow, forests of pines, rock faces, and many little brooks and streams with icy cold water. Our ...

... plates, some kind of club tour I guess. If you're going to traverse the Alps in a motorised vehicle, at least do it in style.

The climb to the top from Val D'Isere is about 14 km averaging at a 6% gradient. The weather was good to us, no rain, neither too hot nor cold, so it was a comfortable climb.

There is a small shop at the top, and we treated ourselves to a coffee (no milk yet as it was the first day of the season that it ...
