... set off but only got as far as Gigny, about 15k up the Soane river and the shaft bearing played up. And as we all know, every good sailor requires a sturdy shaft bearing. We were stuck, up creek, without a bearing. We managed to secure a tow from the Capitaine of Gigny marina,and returned, tied up along side another boat, back to Pont de Vaux for repairs. ... We walked up the side of the Montagne de Beaune and had a great view of Beaune and the grapes. When we got back to the park, Dad, Ben and Jon got to row a boat on the pond. On the pond, we saw ducks, a crane and fish. It was a bit hard to row because there was so much pond weed. Ben tried to lift an oar and it was very heavy. ... move on on Tuesday. We will leave here (assuming that last package we are waiting for gets here Monday) and head for Dijon, where we meet friends on Saturday. We’ll take them and their kids for a trip up the canal and back on Sunday-Monday. Then we will head north along the Canal du Bourgogne, the whole way north to the Yonne. Lord willing and the boat don’t get temperamental! 242 kilometers, 189 locks. That is a lot of locks!
