... 1. As you drive through the French country side you will see little gardens set up by the locals. In the towns they are everywhere. Just beautiful. I will see if I have some photos. 2. Forget about the cost of petrol or the cost of the rental car or for that matter the cost of the flight over here, the amount of times you have your hand in your pocket for the toll roads here is ridiculous. 4.5euros here 8 euros there and with the exchange rate it makes Sydney ...

Day 5 Beaujolais Wine Region to French Riviera

... But then the snacks and the souvenirs look good and I'm generally suckered into buying those things.

It was boiling hot today, and by the time we got to the accommodation which were cute little cabins by the way we were all sweating like pigs, and Toni gave us 1 hour to get ready. 1 shower, 4 girls. 1 mirror and 1 hour to get all dolled up for the famous Monte Carlo casino in Monaco. This wasn’t going to work. Nobody had time to shower. You know ...

... and it is beautifully plated and most important, it is so delicious. The courses are well timed so you don't feel rushed. After the meal the waiter will not bring you the check until you signal that you are ready, it is considered rude to rush you, they expect you to relax over your coffee or that last glass of wine. Simply lift your hand or say "sil vous plait". Most will settle the bill at table and for us 3 ladies, most were willing to split the bill.

Castles again Last bit of Austria - Week 6 part 1

A travel blog entry by jrdlcr on Jun 13, 2014

... cable car. I managed the 5km all but the last hill, and I had to walk that bit. The views from the top were well worth the effort, absolutely magnificent, right across the valley and into the next with mountains everywhere. We caught the 4pm car up and 4.20 back as the last one was 4.30 - I didn't fancy the walk down. This is a great corner of Austria, one that certainly merits another look.

          Now back into Germany .....

... by the previous day, we took the train to watch the start of Stage 5, as much to see Gerrans in yellow as anything, but turns out we probably need not have bothered, as the 'official' start was not until after the peloton had passed us, so it was all over pretty quick, and we barely got to see yellow as he was riding over the other side of the street. Oh well. Took lunch at this little town before (eventually) catching the train back to Nice, where we watched the rest of ...
