... In the afternoon Warren and I split up for the optional excursions. I went on a bus tour of the French countryside in the Alsace region which included a wine tasting. ... for over an hour and a half and saw no one. not a soul. We did learn that the supermarket opens at 8am the next morning. We also learned that General de Gaul visited the church in Erstein to attend midnight mass Christmas Eve 1944.
