... bread, cheese and sausage and had a picnic on top of the Col du Lautaret.

We then drove across the Alps again this time via Galibier and the Telegraphe where Mich pulled the pin on driving after seeing tyre tracks that lead over the edge of the narrow road.

More on Galibier tomorrow as I ride it in the opposite direction on the classic Telegraphe/Galibier 35km climb.

I have been guaranteed the bad weather is over, please be true.

Sun and cycling through the wildflowers

Finally some sunshine, well at least a peek through the clouds every now and then. Ready to ride at 5.30am and the night clerk forgot to leave the key out for the shed. Another late start then I'm off to climb Col du Mollard.

Fantastic climb this one fairly long and through forest on the lower slopes and wildflowers above the cloud line. I was a little lost for a while just a little, stupid Garmin! But soon was back on track.

Woke up with high hopes of an early ride today looked out the window and could not believe how far down the mountain the cloud had rolled. Climbing big Cols was out of the question.

We took an early morning trip St Jean de Maurienne to stock up on supplies and have a coffee and croissant. The weather started getting worse so it was time for bread, cheese, salami and wine.

... up a few pieces of clothing and made note of the prices for leg warmers and hats, which I thought would be necessary for the remainder of my cycling here. There was a town at the base of the climb with some shops as well so we planned on doing some price comparisons. ... feeling great so we don't have much to report from here, we decided to leave after 3 nights as the weather was pretty bad and there was nothing in the forecast to say it was going to improve in the near future....
