... Allies at Toulon in August of 1944. There are some tanks and other equipment still around but there is quite the museum with artifacts, bullets, uniforms, unexploded ordinance. They had a room dedicated to the work of the Resistance leading up to the landing. ... trees and a few vines but nothing 'pretty'. The houses are very similar to Tuscany and much like mine at home actually except many more apartment blocks in the city of course. We're driving through a forest (scrubby bush to us), I'm surprised we're not driving along the coast which probably would be more interesting but I heard about ' molto traffico' so that may be why.
