After breakfast, we met our guide for the day, Attilio. He was a hon not a hun and took awesome care of us throughout the day. We tooled up to Chamonix-Mont Blanc in air conditioned comfort, which was a welcome relief on a day of high heat and humidity. We took the E94 and skirted all around Athens and than up the top of the Pelopenese up to Patras. Half way there the road started to have roadwork everywhere and that continued pretty much the rest of the ...

... John had given me some good tips, the best of which was to start at the back, and work my way through the field on the climbs. This worked a treat and I got to meet lots of great people from many different countries as I spun my way up. French, German, Spanish, English, Canadian, Mexican, South African - they were all represented. People kept asking if I was from NZ - not sure what the point was as we always claim all ...
