... the path we rode on was a dedicated cycle path, a lot of roads in France have a dotted lane on the road, and cyclists share the road with motor bikes, busses and cars. The French motorists do seem to be very respectful of cyclists and seem to wait patiently for a safe spot to overtake, having said that, I wouldn't risk my life riding on these narrow mountain roads.

Higher up in the mountains, there had been quite a bit of logging, so we had to do a fair amount of climbing under and over large fallen trees, just to keep on the path. This morning we caught the free shuttle from the funicular at 9am and headed off to Les Ecudets where we got the chairlift up to La Rosiere from there some skiing, a few more chairs and a poma and we crossed the French/Italian border. We had lunch and skied for the remainder of the day in Italy ...

Susa Italy was a very cute little town nestled in a valley halfway between Briancon and Turin. We did not spend much time there but since it was the destination of our carpool, we decided to check it out before continuing to Turin. We went to a local restaurant and ate some pizza, and wandered the streets a little bit before heading to the train station.

... huge boom to shift the loose snow. So, until the all clear, only the lower slopes were open with the result that all the lifts were congested with long queues. Anyway, we got going once the tops slopes were open and Sophie, Anna and I headed to the highest peak in the 3 Valleys, Point du Bouchet, at 3230m.
