... We start our service very strictly at 9:45am. I arrive, I have my coat removed, I take my seat. The service is a CD/DVD affair. I stumble my way through French hymns, which have the same melodies I'm used to, but different words as they're not always a direct translation. Besides this, the French tradition of musical and poetic oration involves an elaboration of the syllables that doesn't happen in everyday speech. So, it's quite an experience for me to sing the hymns.

We headed on to the next Aire which was at the top of a mountain and the views were spectacular. This place was chosen as an arbitrary half way point between the Dordogne and Dijon, where we will drop the car off and pick up a night train to Italy.
