... introduced agriculture. This was home to Christopher Columbus, the city's most famous son, he was born in 1436 and died 1506. Views from the Calvi Citadel and the fortress gave us brilliant panoramic views over the harbour, the water so blue and crystal clear. The pink L'Eglise Santa Maria church in the centre of the village is a distinct city landmark. The top of the church looks like it had an ...

... cheeses, breads, olives and meats and they all looked beautiful.

We got back to our hotel, and I went directly down to the pool. I can't spend 5 weeks on these lovely islands and not come home with some tan. I'm not getting much because I'm using a 50SPF, so I'm at least saving my skin cells.

We got to the hotel too early for our room, so we drove into town for a little lunch. We each had a small beer and split a panini sandwich.

We checked into our hotel at 3:00 and we both worked on our computers.

We walked back into town at 7:30 for dinner. I ordered the chicken curry, and Eldon ordered the menu. The menu was fish with ...

... to the ship. We were running a bit late and were the last to board before we set off. Calvi and surrounds were quite modern with a lovely feel. It is the type of place that I could stay for a week or so and relax. Interesting sidelight - when the French first took over the island (I think about the early 1900's) people were banned from speaking or writing Corsican. Anyway our tour guide can speak it and she sang a Corsican song for us. It was a lovely touch. We both ...
