... in central Heraklion - Had Greek salad, tatziki, mixed chicken plate for two, and there was enough food brought out for at least four people. The staff then brought us melons and some rake - which was strong enough to grow hairs on your chest. Very much enjoyed that eating experience.

Day two on Crete saw us driving towards the Palace of Knossos, for a wee bit of ancient history. Such a large site to explore. All quite low key - there are ...

... the village that is. I was going to climb the mountain behind the village but decided it was just too hot to bother. The view was good enough from the village and the olive groves!!!! You can justify any decision!!!

Stopped on the way back at the archaeological site of Knosos. Ok, but think I have seen enough of these sites now (after Cyprus).

Nice climate here. High 20’s and not a cloud in the sky so enjoying the weather. Food ...

Today there is just some stones and other pieces of rubble but from what I imagined I think the palace would be really impressive especially for something that was built 4000 years ago. Unfortunately a British archeologist, Arthur Evans, in the 1900's found it and tried to recreate the palace how he thought it should be. Modern archeologists now think he got it a lot wrong. At the villa we packed our bags because we are leaving ...
