Before long, Sunday rolled around and it was time do clean up and start moving stuff to the basement. I watched the Spa grand prix whilst saying goodbye to Anne-Louise and Darya and packing photo albums and shoes, both of which I have way too many. I must have made at least thirty ...

... make up your mind as you go along! The barge trip was short, about fifteen minutes. The island was small, inhabited and dare I say, affluent! Lovely modern Dutch houses, still with the mansard roof style, but definitely executive! We finally left the island on its opposite side, and soon picked up a sign for a cycleway to Leiden which we followed, but after a while, the distances to Leiden were increasing rather than decreasing so ...

... there in 1953, the result being that they have built an engineering marvel to rival the Panama Canal to keep the water out. We visited one of the big dikes and saw how it was built. Afterwards, we went on to Kinderdijk--the best preserved set of windmills in the country. There are 19 left there now and we took a picturesque canal boat ride to see them all. Then you could also see a film about them and actually go inside one of them. It was roomier than ...

... was so long, I walked what seemed like forever to find my carriage. I was lucky enough to get a window seat and was next to a couple and had a young girl across from me. The seats themselves were really comfortable. The train was so fast, flying through the beautiful surrounds of Belgium at great speeds. I heard the ticket lady tell another couple as she checked their tickets that the train reaches speeds up ...
