The shortest of drives heading south has brought us to the charming city of Albi, dominated by its huge red brick cathedral [what French city isn't?]. ... mist and clouds float around the lower town making it appear that Cordes is floating on a sea of clouds. Unfortunately, we would not get to see this phenomenon other than in the photos of postcards and magnets and placemats for sale around the town but it would be so awesome to see it.

Our bus driver took us to the lower parking lot first but as it isn't quite the tourist season yet, the shuttle bus is not operating from ...

... bits on it it could be anything! It was very steep, very narrow, with weaving hairpins, single passing places, giant overhanging rock faces with rusty old signs giving an estimated height of which most Elvis was above, hence the need to sit on the English side for much of the way usually on bends and it was very very long. 25 miles long. Crazily we never saw another vehicle in either direction all the way down, thank goodness!!! Now I should have ...
