Ironically the war that nearly destroyed Puycelsi was WW1, because half of the town's men marched away to war and did not come back. One is reminded about how devastated France was during WW1 and WW2 by the prominent memorials almost every village we drive through has.

Fortunately, the tourist industry has drawn fresh life ...

So............our mates have returned to Blighty to resume normal life. Ferry back for us in a week or so, we are wending our way north - soaking up good things. France is full of good things.......a superb country - oft over-looked by English folk. It's different here away from the high mountains......but stunningly beautiful........and hilly if you ride a bike!
