Today we left the wonderful Refugio Bonatti. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed! We had a short day planned and wanted to be sure we didn't miss too much from the trail the day before after taking the bus. After a slow start to our day, we back tracked a few hours and enjoyed a hole without our packs! Not surprisingly, we found more wild flowers and mountains to capture in photos! Wild flowers make me smile! Breakfast ended at 7:30 am and the Refugio staff ...

It's still bloody hot but this is a nice camp, and very quickly neutralised the memories of last night...

... friends with all the members of our group, finding out about each other's families, jobs etc. communication is good despite the language difficulties. Dinner tonight was the best we've had so far, with mushroom risotto, slices of roast veal, with roasted potatoes and spinach, with Black Forest cake for dessert. Delicious. Alas as we are now in Italy, no cheese. Tomorrow we pass through Couremayeur, the biggest town till we get back to Chamonix. I'm dreaming of an ice cream and some ...

... he was carrying both their full packs. As I passed him I asked him if he was the donkey, and he thought it was a great joke. Then of course we met them at dinner, and he showed me a picture of him with her on his shoulders, each still with their packs on. I told him I had changed my nickname to Superman. They were great fun. No tea towels on their heads. Anyway, I don't know when we will have WiFi, but I will keep trying. Goodnight from a weary ...
