... of the island is very mountainous and for centuries the population lived mostly in the mountains to avoid the malaria and other mosquito born illnesses found along the coast. That has changed and now the population is centered on the coastal areas. We didn't ride the train but there is one that traverses the island. It does take a long time to get from one side to the other.

01/09/13.After a wander along the the marina we headed for our new home for the next 7 days. This accom is fabulous & we couldn't be happier with the whole package. It is SO clean, spacious, well appointed, & we are on the third floor with pool & mountain views. Too beautiful!!! It feels like we can really stop, take stock, relax & enjoy being home for a wk.
