... no ice for our drinks. But having a warm outside shower made up for that, and the sun loungers were very comfortable too. Of course one of the first things we did was go to the beach. Wow, it's huge with fine golden sand and these amazing German pillboxes in various states of disrepair, sinking into the sand all along the beach. ... down with alacrity, although it was by now about 6pm French time.

Now we're just waiting for a chance to make the long passage down to Spain, making Royan our last stop in France. The good weather, of course, also seems to be at an end; lots of rain is in the forecast, although so far there's been much less than predicted. We're hoping to make it down to Spain this weekend, so fingers crossed the forecast doesn't change ...
