... fit his own agenda, Hadrian had a hand in designing a complex built for thousands. He was the ruler of the Roman Empire but did not actually like the city of Rome, so he built his palace in Tivoli. Built in the 2nd Century AD, it took 10 years to construct the 30 building complex on 250 acres.

A day filled with history and drawing, but mostly just looking at cool stuff.

We stayed as long as we could in the park and even though there were only about 20 or so people visiting that day we were pretty much alone the whole time. I think John would agree that we could have spent two more days there and still not have gotten bored or run out of things to see. This place was amazing. After a quick walk along the beach, not liking the black sand and the roaring winds, we spent the day on the road. Driving towards Rome, finding a spot on the outskirts. Now that we knew what Met trains to catch, where to change trains, what platform the Tivoli train left from, it was easy to get to Tivoli.
