The room was very large, with a balcony, and unlike any others we have stayed in Europe, had a small fridge, and a table with two chairs, (we we sat to have our breakfast, of muesli, yoghurt and banana). Unfortunately the ancient stone walls stopped the wifi signal, so we sat in large red swivel chairs at the end of the hall, or downstairs to use the wifi.
The next morning after breakfast we had a coffee at a nearby bar, where a very energetic woman, working on ...

So, we meandered through lots of tiny little French villages which are all very similar - totally and utterly deserted - no sign of life at all, with a few parked cars, but no people, no lights, no open doors or windows, nary even a neon/fluoro sign to suggest that there may be living beings within.... After 2 sessions at 3Eu each, I ran out of change to feed the machine, with it s pressure sprayer of hot water and paint-stripper, and while I waited for Treas to return, I got out a hand-sponge and painstakingly tried to rub-off all the accumulated bugs and dirt. Finally I, sent Treas off to get some more change and after she returned, the old girl (Dulcie) was ...

... DEAD ! But, we went through the castle during the morning, and it was amazing! The current owners, Poles, who are descendants of the original owners, still live in a very fine 4 story mansion within the grounds, and the castle is still furnished with many of the original, untouched furnishings and paintings , some going back to the mid 1500s, but parts of the castle still remain despite having been built in the 1200s! Some really beautiful art works ...
