I awoke at about 0530 to boats zipping around the Canal and thought, time to go back to sleep. We decided to drag our sorry ***** out if bed at about 0830 and head down stairs for a snappy breakfast. It was great to sleep in after being on the move so much and especially after yesterday. It was excellent. The kids were still snoring and ******* do we headed down for a look at some of the local shops and €150 later I had three ties, Tina had a wine bottle ...

Their decline in ...

... to the wharf at the fish markets near Rialto Bridge and our hotel, Locanda Poste Vecie, which used to be a post office, and the hotel manager came to meet us and walk us to the hotel which is really in a very convenient position. I am in a lovely attic room just under the roof line but it is air conditioned but there are 59 steps from the front door of the hotel to my room so it will keep me fit. After settling in, Jan and I went for a walk around on ...

... I bought wine at an enotecia, where the wine is available from little spigots coming from big rubber balloons sitting in barrels. Perhaps these are stateside as well, but everything about wine is new to me. I didn't have a bottle so she filled my small plastic water bottle I'd been using for painting. For 1 Euro. I think it would be easy and fun to be an alcoholic here, if it weren't for the fact that eventually, one would stumble into a canal.
