Yesterday we left the town of Besse-et-St-Anastaise, a medieval town in the Puys du Dome region of Auvergne. This was another magic spot we lucked upon, (thank you Google) staying in the ramparts of the old fort. Our front gates were actually set in the old town wall. ... had a nice peasanty evening meal and then, on the next, rather overcast day with nothing much to do we decided to drive in to the nearest large town: Clermont Ferrand.

... it's reputed to have over 100 kilometres of catacombs underneath it.And you can visit them...but not today you can't!!!
I'm getting towards the end of my trip now, perhaps another 600 miles over the next week or so. I'll be happy to not have to ride the bike for a while.....
