... the Hotel Dieu, which was a hospital built in 1443 by a rich philanthropist to take care of the poor. It was staffed by nuns and later had rooms added to take care of wealthy people to help pay the bills. This hospital ran for 550 years! It closed for good in 1971, when the last patient left. Well today was a very long and arduous day...very up and down but it always seems more up than down. We were up early and off after breakfast, for 8am. ... and delightful moose. Good French food is spectacular. Simple but special. Tomorrow is a full day of 24 km.. Probably not too steep just gentle undulations... Should be good.. Btw. Weather so far has been perfect . Gentle cool breeze all the way. Sometimes threatening rain but so far never anything more than a drizzle..
