... day were the strenuous bits, but SO beautiful you almost didn't mind the uphill drag. And we made it, so feel prepared for anything!! We now seem to be up on a plateau, reasonably high altitude, and I think we stay up here for a while, with easy days walking according to the Book! Tomorrow is about 25 kms, which will probably mean more, but if it is called easy, that will be fine. Now I will see if I can publish ...

We are here!! Feeling of achievement...this town is perched on the side of a hill, that we climbed up from the other side, then down to!! But it wasn't a terribly difficult day, except for that last 2 kms, and we arrived here at about 2.45, having left Le Puy at 8.15, so it wasn't bad... Amazing from the top of course, and a view over to the cathedral and Notre Dame statue, as well as the town. Wow! Now after picking up a bite to eat we are back at the hotel, sitting in the terrasse (where the wifi extends to!!) relaxing, reading. We have started ...

... and in Le Puy we have seen our first shell markers in the pavement. We are at a very pleasant hotel, and here for 2 nights. A rather mysterious hot water and shower system, but that just goes with the wonders of travel. Such a pretty town. Ventured into the centre for a light meal tonight. Found a place that had salads and looked good. And it was, but can you believe it - in the same room as us were a couple of Australian doctors - the sort ...

Castelnau to Le Puys

A travel blog entry by legoodtimesroll on Jul 15, 2015

... us through hilly, windy roads , the scenery was lovely but it was quite a long journey. We eventually arrived and I could not really see what was so special about this place. We found the campsite on the edge of town where the unusual volcanic outcrops stood with medieval buildings perched on the top. Another had a huge statue overlooking the town. In the ...
