Next day set off for Chalon which has to be one of our favourite towns/small city so far. At least as nice as Lion though a little smaller. Nice sized marina, 5 min walk to the square in front of the huge old church in the middle of town. cobbles streets, old buildings, along with a modern part as well. very pretty beside the ...

A stunning view of a hilltop chateau where we took many photos. Shortly after ...

Swims for all - very hot. Dinner in Auberge restaurant. 7 course degustation. In a word, spectacular. Chef is a one star Michelin chef, and food was delicious, in fact, possibly the best we've ever had. The whole village based on 'love', it's ...

... was quite warm we found ourselves in need of refreshments. Well we came across French pub and were made welcome. There were only a handful of people in the bar but very soon people began to drift in. We were not aware of the tradition and it might only be peculiar to this pub, but every time a newcomer entered the bar, they shook hands with everyone on the bar. Dave and I were flat out getting a decent swig of our beer. But ...
