I've talked with friends and family a lot about my struggles with adjusting to the ways of life in France. A short list of these are hours of operation, finding a place to practice yoga, and grocery shopping. These three items are near and dear to my heart. I've survived each situation, and seem to be presented with alternative options just when I think it's a lost cause - but I think that you might enjoy hearing about some of the differences.

... schedule to find out which trains were actually running during the strike. There was one leaving at 10am from Nice, but not from the main station, so I had to make my way over to Nice Riquier. I got my really cheap (€3.30) and ridiculously busy train to Monaco. Because of this strike, everyone has to try to cram onto fewer trains and it is absolute chaos out there. I managed to squeeze on and only 20 minutes later I was ...

... playground I've ever seen (check out the Octopuses garden photo).

Like the most handsome of men, Nice can make you do things you don't really want to do. I faltered and bought a completely unwise, difficult to carry, potentially breakable sculpture from the 1800's. David (who is more loveable with each day) supported this latest transgression by saying sanguinely, "Gaily, we can always buy another bag'. Enough said, sculpture ...
