... We left our car behind, the VW Polo, and caught the bus to Nice to find our next lodgings.
I didn't let the team down, this apartment is in the Old Town on the 4th floor. There are 66 steps that Phil managed to negotiate with one suitcase while the Manager and I carried up the other. Lucky we climbed the Eiffel Tower early in the peace as training for the ongoing staircase olympics.

Red ambiance, an effect created by the sunlight passing through the red umbrellas that provided the only shade for this open aired restaurant sitting on the edge of a mountain. It was magical. Best spot for a romantic lunch I'd say.
A quick bite later, I was on ...

... further east at Beziers. More rugged where the mountains reach right down to the sea, rocky peninsulas dips their toes in the blue water, it reminds me of the Costa Brava in Spain. Of course each Marina and port we pass is full of pretentious 'super yachts’ with hot tubs on the open decks. 2 young kiwis sit opposite me on the train heading back to Nice to re-join a boat having spent a day and a half ...
