Today we left Die and arrived at Castellane at a campsite called Le Lavant. The route that we followed was actually part of the Tour De France route! When we arrived we set up the campervan, explored the town before heading back. We then decided that we wanted to swim in the lake or pool and seeing as they were both right next to one another, we decided to set off. It turns out that the river contained melt water so the water was absolutely freezing I ...

On Sunday morning, we got up early to go get the brunch order which of course included croissants and the freshest batards to go with the sausage, yogurt and muesli. We were finally able to sleep and I think Anoop had a better understanding of poor Mom’s nightly struggles to ...

... we reluctantly headed back to the van and off towards the Verdon. An easy drive initially until reaching Mansque then a steep climb with amazing views to Moustiers-St.Marie quite a hair-raising drive in "the flash" with lots of narrow sections and precipitous drops into the abyss on the drivers side. Moustiers - St.Marie is another lovely hillside village albeit very touristy. We visited the tourist info. ...

    The spectacular Gorge du Verdon

... about a 60 mile round trip and so it took a few hours due to the twisty roads and relentless camper vans. The gorge itself was wondrous with the sides stretching up to the road at 1,100M (the depth of the gorge is about 350M). Lots of bikes around the gorge enjoying the bendy bits – Brian would love it! Finally made it back to the lake, peeled off the bike gear and went in for a swim. The water was surprisingly warm and we had a lovely cool off.
