... is the capital of the Burgundy region (as in the wine) and is the home of a number of tasty dishes most notable being beef bourguignon and coq au vin (chicken in red wine). So we were dearly hoping to get the opportunity to taste 1 or both while in the region. It also seemed like a pleasant city from the descriptions we had read.

If first impressions count for anything, I felt it had a really good vibe about it from the first moments in the city. We ...

... down and put our hands at our sides and they touched us on each shoulder lightly with a wooden sword. It would hurt if it was a metal one. Mummy says this is how you get knighted, but I didn't know that because Ardern didn't tell me what they were saying.

The wine we had was good, but we needed more time to really get an appreciation of the local wines.

... had already had 6 delicious samples of Burgundy white and red wines. We made our way through some tasting rooms in Pommard and Volnay, and had a terrific lunch in Volnay. We are really going to miss having our daily ½ liter of wine at lunch and dinner. Don’t worry—we soak it up with plenty of bread. Mark enjoyed his steak tartare and I had a yummy salad paysanne. Every salad in my life from now on needs to have smoked bacon and ...

Burgundy

... that we don't have spare days. It just goes to show that the world is so big that even in 9 months, we are going to miss out on many experiences.

Its great to be in Beaune, home of the Burgundy wine area. When I think of the world's most amazing wines, I think Burgundy. But not to forget, I also love Bordeaux too. When drinking a bottle of wine, its so much more interesting when I know the geography of where the wine is from, so this trip really increases ...
