    ... The furniture, paintings, tapestries, chandeliers and furnishings items in the palace were looted and smashed, and the palace’s doors and windows were demolished. In 1793, the remnants of art and furniture of the palace was all shipped to Louvre. In the next 40 years, Versailles was reduced to and remained as rubbles. It was till 1833 when King Louis Philippe of the Orleans dynasty ordered the restoration of Versailles and changed it to a Museum of History.

    ... ever seen!! Medieval chateaus, castles and churches everywhere! And let us not forget the lovely white cows grazing in the verdant pastures!! Just visited a quaint medieval town that was just too cute for words!! Toured the magnificent and beautifully preserved 17th-century Chateau de Cormatin in Burgundy complete with surrounding moat (I want to put one around our house as soon as we get back) and spectacular gardens!!     Finished the day with the show at St.Chappelle. This is a usual haunt of ours. A baroque evening with 1 violin, 1 recorder and a harpsichord playing a number of pieces in the most magnificent setting - the St.Chappelle church.

    Sue and I enjoyed the concert and on the way home, we diverged along the Seine for a stroll and a few late evening photos of the Eiffel Tower etc.

    ... the road at les Jardins des Plantes and saw the world's amazing flamingos, a snow leopard, red pandas and the yak which was by far the biggest animal, it was so cool and fun. We came back to our apartment to have lunch, then we went out to the sewers. The sewers were all about where our poos and wees go. I said to mum "hey I can see my poo floating down from the morning", "yeah right" ...
