      ... till 6.00 pm when it would be free parking and then discovered why it is free after 6.00. We walked out the 1km to the entrance and found that it was already closed for the day.

      We took the optional tour to the Pont du Gard. It was wonderful seeing this ancient treasure. It was interesting to learn that long after the Romans the people used the aqueduct as a road.       ... on our tour. I am now feeling much more confident with the motorways, so when the GPS asks if we wish to avoid them I confidently say "bring them on baby!". The trip to Nimes was mostly uneventful with only one mad frenchie trying to run us off the road.
