The River Villaine

A travel blog entry by sophistikitty

... having never attempted to go through a lock before, but we were ready the next morning and again it was all much easier than I'd expected (although I may not be able to say the same for going out again...)

We chugged gently upriver, the wind calming and the sun starting to poke through, and before long we had a beautiful afternoon to enjoy. The river rivals the River Aulne for beauty; there's less woodland, but it's full of ...

Port-Louis is on one side of a large and busy harbour (Lorient is a bigger city on the other side) and as we approached the entrance we joined what looked like hundreds of yachts also going in. We put the sails down so I could actually see well enough to get us safely in, and hoped fervently that all these ...
