We saw the hill where Brucie had his last big accident on skiis (in front of the only people in Murren he knew) and then entered the town, stopping outside the Stagerstubli to call Allan, the Scottish guy who used manage the Eiger Guesthouse next to Hotel Eiger where I worked. The ride up had plenty of stops, costing more the further you went – all the way to the top of Schilthorn (which comes a close second to ...

... t a long trip, but by the time the train arrived in Grindelwald the weather had turned again, and it was drizzling lightly. My first impression of the town is that there are a lot of expensive looking Hotels and lots of shops, especially for sports equipment. A lot of the travelers here seem to be using Hiking Poles and carrying small Backpacks. They’re very focused on physical activities in Switzerland, especially hiking in the summer.
