... we stopped for ice cream and crepes...yum!! We explored for a little more and after about 6 hours of Versailles, we headed back to the train station. First though, gotta pick up some baguette sandwiches and pastries at Class' Croutes...we can't complain about the food! The train was insanely packed...and I mean like shoulder to shoulder, standing room only...and Paris isn't exactly known for it's pleasant smells so, we saved our food and broke it out ...
... notice that it is very flat with no opportunities to see a view, except from here and Sacre Couer, which is in one of the photos. Lots of locals walking, running, walking dogs and playing with kids. So green and lush.
Early start tomorrow as I have a flight to Rome, not sure what my wifi will be like, so could be a while between posts.
... was pleased with my ability to employ broken French after many years without practice, as she spoke no English. After giving us a tour of the apartment, she was on her way. Following a quick sieste, we went out to check out our neighbourhood and pick up some groceries, including a massive 2 kg wheel of miche bread at a bakery called La Poilane that Rachelle had read about in the New Yorker magazine. ... are having a wonderful time and yesterday travelled from Alsace where we stayed in a beautiful village which certainly deserves its classification as one of the most beautiful villages of France. We had a beautiful apartment in a restored 15th century building, which was only 2 mins walk down a little cobbled road heading out to the old wall from the main cobbled road through town. We really relaxed there and didn't do much travelling out of the town. Lots of wandering, ...
... however, were delighted with the various individuals wands from the Harry Potter books (probably cost more than Harry paid for the original though).
After a day in Paris, so that Chris and the boys fit in a little better, I've been toying with the idea of purchasing some new polo shirts, slip-ons, and navy knit wear to tie around their necks.......
