We had left Périguex early as we had a long ride of almost 500 km, and were using the main roads. In the Burgundy region, we started to take the secondary roads and we came along the side of the Canal du Centre and stopped to see one of the locks in operation.

... we went to his Cave and were tasting a 1986 wine which was incredible!!!! Much discussion about his wines and what years were the best which George was able to quote off the top of his head! he then showed us the area where he makes his wine followed by our purchase of 6 bottles.
2011 for 5 Euro 2009 for 6 euro and 1993 for 10 euro amazing prices. Said our farewells after discussing the return to pick next year LOL.
After riding about 300 kms, Werner and I stopped for a lunch break in a town call Chalon-sur-Saone.
It is quite a nice city with an old town, but all of the restaurants closed by 2:30 p.m. and although we looked hard we could not find anything.
