... much the scope of the day, got to go, my book is calling me. -- Tali A rather disappointing end to the hike - with the pouring rain and poor visibility up the mountain, it made no sense to attempt today's walk. ... Val Ferret area. This is a real small hamlet with about 5-10 houses, a hotel and a bar/restaurant. Service was good, the shared washrooms were clean and dinner was tasty... Hopefully a better day tomorrow.... We've faced a few challenges on this trip so far, stinging nettle, wet backpack straps and long days, but I hope this last one is now behind us (pun intended) and we resume ...

Woke up to another beautiful day. Hotel Pavillon had been excellent and a great place to relax for the night. Dinner was a 5 course meal with great wine to celebrate harriet's birthday. See the picture from our room window. It is going to be very difficult leaving here to get on the path again. Such a quaint and modern town. It's official, I am 50! Spent the morning in France, entered Italy by noon. The last couple hours in France were hiking up to the col de la seigne, with magnificent views! It was great arriving in courmayeur, a quant and cosmopolitan Italian town. We arrived at a decent hour so had some time ...

... view was probably my favourite part of the day. There was a little detour to a lake that we decided to go to to eat lunch. Our next stage of the journey was a muddy trail on a rocky riverbed. A small stream ran down the path. The top was very windy but there was a shelter we went in to. After this, we started climbing up again. It was very rocky and hard to see the trail. The views once again were beautiful. The path started going downwards and we all started to feel fatigued. ...
