... See the photo with our laundry on the line on our small terrace. The village we stayed in, St Chely D'Aubrac, is a gem. Very small, one patisserie, a few cafés, and a couple of restaurants. The highlight of dinner was the dessert - a tray with a small creme brûlée, berry tort and apple tort. The different tastes were fantastic. We had dinner with our 2 Aussie friends who we hadn't seen for a couple of days. Of course, the man with the red pack was ...

So, the rain came, but we were dry! We set out this morning to find a small museum on the history of life in Cevennes National Park. En route we passed a dairy where Le plat du jour was a tasting plate of 7 cheeses all made on site. They had to be eaten in a certain order - softest to hardest. ... up was a steep climb out of town with grades well over 10% for a few kilometres to the small airport at Mende. On the way up we had great views down below to the old centre of town and the cathedral there. We stopped for some photos. Finally up and over the top, it was a similarly steep descent. My rear rim got very hot and the the tube blew out. I thought that could happen. It actually forced the tire off the rim! But a ...

As a preamble to today's story, at 7:30am I decided to change the tube on my front tire; I had broken the valve stem when we put the bikes together on arrival and thought I should change it to permit me to put air in it. That done we all turned pedals together about 8am. That was the last time that Steve, Carole and I saw anyone from the group except Jill until our arrival here, so ...
