... but at least it's clean and neat and they are obviously trying to make it a nice place to live and visit. We enjoyed it. The city square was a 'beach' during our stopover. The weather was not all that beachy but in the latter part of the afternoon it warmed up and hoards of kids enjoyed 'fishing', swimming and playing on the substantial amount of sand very cleverly placed. ... guy from the market screaming out "oui, oui, oui" every minute or so. He was doing it to get customers but he didn't realize he was actually scaring them away. We then stopped at the Tourist Information and found we could visit a champagne house for a tour. We walked up the Ave de Champagne where all the major champagne labels have cellars. We had 30 minutes to get to a Tyler repair place or else we were stuck until Monday in Epernay, a lovely town but it had no available accommodation. The guy said we needed two new tyres because they had to be the same on each side and he didn't have any the same as the good one on the back. ...

... very beautiful. We had decided to do a tour of the Mercier cellars as we had heard it was not just great for adults, but also fun for children! It was fascinating. We went 30 metres underground to the cellars and caught a small train through the 18km of underground tunnels where all the champagne is made and stored. Then we each got a glass of champagne to try and of course we had to make a few purchases at the cellar door! We continued on through Reims and ...

Living in the City

... of walking out the door. Gage and I found a little park near our house to play soccer but it's quite small.

Also, if we get home too late at night, we have to drive around to find a parking spot! I don't miss those days!

But, city living also means lots of bus travel, access to butchers and bakeries within walking distance, and the opportunity to see people very different from ourselves.
