... and yes, the mountains are impressive.
As we didn't want to take Frankie too high into the alps, we chose a campsite at Lausanne on Lake Geneva. It is known as Lac Leman by the locals. The first day we went to the lake to have a look. The water was clear, blue and very clean. Apparently it has not always been like it and in the 1960's it was too polluted to swim in. When you stay ...

Thursday The bus trip to Geneva was uneventful and we arrived at the Nash airport Hotel. On our way past the airport we checked that our bikes were still there, and they were but our little tool bags were both open. Obviously whoever had looked in them didn't want spare tubes or Alan keys. Incredibly fortunately for us, their was a bike shop across the road, which we had seen on our last overnight stop in Geneva, and he was more than happy to give us two bike boxes. We spent ...

... clearly the hang out for locals, the lake more so for tourists. We eventually had to leave to make it to the store in time to get things for dinner. We walked from Geneve over to France to the store as things are a lot cheaper in France. We had a great salad and then took to having various vodka shots to wrap up a great stay with yet another amazing couch surfing host. I am really digging the experiences we have been able to have with such generous, kind, welcoming people. This ...

    ... northern France.

As the chapels all but disappeared from sight as I moved further eastward, water fountains started to appear in the villages where previously I'd seen none. One day, on the road to Bapaume (after Arras) a lady who had invited me into her home to replenish my water bottle provided a plausible explanation as to why this is the case. She believed that north-west France was no different to the rest of the country in terms of civic water fountains until ...

... I know Kathy from the Army, she has been out for about 7 years now but I haven't seen her for close to 10 years. She works in Lausanne and has a part time personal training business as well - needless to say she is one busy women. In Lausanne I managed to do two wonderful runs, a 19km and a 12 km run along the Lake - they would have to go down as my most enjoyable runs during my training for this marathon. I think that is a good sign given I've ...
