After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!<br>
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74Up early as it was a spectacular sunrise - full of pinks and organges. We wanted to hit McWifi before we entered Italy but we did not find one until later in the day in Menton. Before that we drove the coast road through Nice and Monte Carlo, both concrete ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74Gorgeous morning and a stunning place for breakfast awaited us just outside Scooby overlooking the lake. I went for a run but Kim was feeling a little under the weather so she stayed and made me breakfast - yay! We spotted two girls about our age and attempted to engage in some conversation but their English was limited and French is rubbish. Shame as its manily been the grey hair brigade we ...
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74Cannes is not as glamrous as we thought it would be, it still has all the fancy smancy stores along the beach, but there were definitely no red carpets rolled out when we were there. We did a day trip to St-Tropez, its was the end of a hge sailing competitiona and tons of ...
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjon... first day in Nice was spent on the beach, we couldn't wait to go into the ocean, that we went swimming without towels. Wasn't a good idea since Nice is all rock beaches and we couldn't really sit to dry off... WE had a delicous pasta dinner at Pasta Basta and ordered the finest wine on ...
Nice, Provence, France sofenjon... experience at Sababini's was very personable! The eight course meal was superb! We both chose the steak and lobster, otherwise referred to as surf and turf! The service was fantastic! Sabatini's provided a more intimate and personable experience! We were glad we arrived with an apetite. Otherwise, the eight courses would've been too much. The champagne carried us through dinner until the cappuccino's. <br ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... Paul was momentarily alarmed when I opened the door to the church - I'd read the sign and knew was it was, but apart from this sign (which Paul couldn't decipher), the entrance looked for all the world like someone's front door. We did not go into the castle - though of medieval origin, this had been clearly messed around with systematically over the centuries, and the bourg itself was more intereting to us. We had a tea and a coffee at a cafe ...
Cagnes-sur-Mer, Provence, France saracengill... and took it all in... I window shopped all the high end designer stores and had to laugh when I noticed that these stores are open for like 5 hours a day. Maybe this is common in Europe where they value that leisure time more than we do, but I also just figured when the people are going to drop that much you don't need the quantity. The one thing that I did love about Monaco was the yachts!! The harbor was just utter ridiculousness. Its just really hard to ...
Monaco-Ville, Monaco gocubs... Loubet (Great beach for chillin) Tourretts sur Loup etc... Monaco, Monaco merlotmonster... idea...no sand sticking all over you!! In the evening we took to the beach with thousands of french for the Bastille fireworks - quite surreal sitting there watching and listening to about 20 different versions of the anthem!!! The fireworks were set over the water from 2 barges and went for about half an hour! Of course we had croissant again, 2 bags of them haha!
