It was supposed to rain with showers all day (according to Adrian) but it looked good so Isi washed our duvet cover and put it on the line. After breakfast we got a taxi with Jenny and Adrian to Sancere which is a village/town sat on top of a hill in the relatively flat landscape of the Loire valley. ... to get water to the boats so we brought out our long hose to help the Germans, English and then ourselves to fill our tanks. The banter was great. The American had a wry sense of humour; the Dutch guy was quick with it too. We came to the south of France via the westerly route. We return through the centre, passing places with the names of French specialities: Roquefort, Volvic, Puy and Vichy. Why are so few English foods named after their origins? We can only think of cheddar cheese and Stilton - and even Stilton was never made in the village that bears its name. ... to explore Bourges on Sunday. It was worthwhile, as we had the chance to explore the Bourges Cathedral and the old town itself. There are many sections of the town which date from the medieval times, with wooden framed houses down most lane ways. It is a town of about 66,000 friendly people. We found a wide choice of restaurants and cafes on Saturday, but fewer on Sunday.
