Well, poor darling had to stay somewhere.
We had been bowling along through some gorgeous countryside for much of the afternoon, in sunshine, under blue skies. We were about 15-20 miles away from where we thought we might stop for the night, when some big mouth said,
"Gosh! Are we actually going to have a rain free day?!?!?"

Als je bij ons thuis in een weekend op de Scheldedijk fietst dan moet je slalommen tussen het volk. Als je op een mooie lentedag op een dijk langs de Loire fietst dan zie je niemand, één grote verlatenheid met kilometers in de omtrek geen levende ziel te bekennen. Dat is spijtig want de dijk langs de Loire heeft evenveel pittoreske plaatsjes dan onze eigen Schelde. Een enkele keer zie je toch een tegenligger die dan even zwaar beladen is als wij. ...
