... were all quite hot and bothered by now. It was nice to relax for a while in the shade of a huge tree. Just before St Genies we realised about 20 metres passed a turn that we had missed it. We turned around and made the recommended turn, to actually come out 50metres along further than where we had double backed. The little detour in the trip notes was to miss a sharp corner - quite funny. The last 3.5 km to the gardens seemed to be like 10km. ...

... to the chateau and parked our bikes outside the gate and locked them up. The chateau was superb - so different to the Loire valley chateaux - this one was a hilltop castle surrounded by a triple wall enclosure. We explored the chateaux for maybe an hour and half. Peter took a few photos inside and didn't understand the French announcement over the load speaker until the voice requested in English that he not take any MORE photos! On our return to the bikes we tried ...

... quarter and there was a maze alley ways one block from the hotel. Found post office easily and was excited to find a 6kg box which I thought was only 50 euros to send internationally. At the counter the gentleman explained it was not an international box and when he brought out the international box and told me the price I was a little pale 150 euros. - he shared my surprise with a few customers who were laughing and offering comments ...

Trip is over, it's been almost 5 weeks now

So, we meandered through lots of tiny little French villages which are all very similar - totally and utterly deserted - no sign of life at all, with a few parked cars, but no people, no lights, no open doors or windows, nary even a neon/fluoro sign to suggest that there may be living beings within....
