... measuring about 2300 meters. It's a sleepy vulcano which we didn't have to climb all the way, luckily. We drove up the mountain by car, which was a boring adventure in itself because about 4 km before the parking space we ended up in a very slow moving traffic jam. Because of the earlier mentioned short holiday and the fact that this is a popular place, the parking was full and we just had to wait for people to leave, before the next ...

As for the tour, we have a very well-dressed Japanese lady who gave us a kind introduction about ...

... a view of the valley from there. We didn't stay long as a whole bus load of other tourists descended. The tour guide had to blow a whistle in a shrill Morse code type signal to help the driver reverse into the parking spot. That sent Owen into hysterics as our driver did it all by himself without any help from anyone.

We returned to Biei Station to catch the train to Asahikawa. We went to have a look at the Information Centre/souvenir shop. It had ...

I am already awake quite early. The rest of the people is already out of bed and it is very light because of the lack of curtains. We couldn't get any breakfast in the hostel so we drove up to the legendary 7Eleven to get something. It is still early if we decide to leave to the Blue Pond. I have no clue what we will see today, but I just let Momo drive where he wants to. One of the guys from the hostel is joining us ...
