We said our goodbyes to those who are left and went back to the hotel to pack. We will be meeting at the station at 11.10am for the train to Chitose Airport. Our flight is at about 2pm and we get into Narita Airport at 3.40pm. We will be catching the 4.50pm or 4.55pm bus to Tachikawa to meet up with Norzin and Shigeki for dinner. It will be Norzin's birthday tomorrow but she offered to cook, which was a bit too much to ask. We decided on the Korean BBQ again.
... Pond is not precisely clear so we stopped at the visitors centre to have a look at the map. Besides looking at a map we did something very Japanese. Or I think it is very Japanese. Japanese people like a sausage on a stick. So the three of us sat outside the visitors centre and ate a sausage with fabric cheese in it and with different sauces. It wasn't as bad as I thought and the guys really liked it.
... as well, but the weird flavours couldn't ask me to it. They had basically the following flavours: Asparagus, pumpkin, sweet corn, cheese, milk and grapes. We also walked through the little museum and found these tiny cute cheese cakes in a sweet little box. And of course we tried those as well.
We found our hostel just a wee bit away from the cheese factory. The founders of this hostel visited more than 50 countries and ...
... decks and windows to be able to see the animals very close or almost being in the middle of them. Unfortunately the animals were held alone, without pairs or groups, most of them mentally switched off, doing there endless rounds to have at least some escape from theri boredome.
Sad to see that this type of zoos still exist, we have zoos as well but very modern with motivated animals

Carried on to Asahikawa, where we have had another beer festival at the station. The weather was now definitely turing into rain. This ruined our plan to climb Asahidate an active volcano and we planned for next day another excursion
Thanks to the lady at the tourist information we found an excellent restaurant close by the hotel. Original Japanese food and we enjoyed very much
