... shopping at the market and got some really good deals some nice stuff. The next day we meet up with our friend george again and we went a climbed our last volcano and this time I conquered it, as we were sitting on the cold lava there was a rumble and the earth moved, we thought is was the valcano but no it was a small earthquake, no damage but pretty cool to expeerience. We fly home tomorrow and that ends another trip-adventure for another year.

... wouldn´t understand. Back at the hotel we realised we had left our jumpers in the bus and had to walk into a dodgy area of nearby Santa Elena at dusk and find where the bus was kept overnight. Luckily we bumped into the driver in the pub and got them back OK. One thing that struck us immediately is that there is a security guard with a pump-action shotgun outside every shop that isn´t a corner shop and the banks all have big signs saying No Guns. In the morning we ...

Its Getting Hot In Here

... were a safe distance from the commotion. Looking up, we were astounded to see that the width of the lava was triple what it had been before our ascent. Only in Guatemala. The sunset view of the neighboring volcanoes was one of the most beautiful that we have ever seen, with one volcano offering a quick spew of black smoke just as the sky turned red. We hiked the rest of the way down with headlamps in the dark, glad to have done ...

Lava and Chaos

... i was forever thinking that the final destination was just around the next corner. By the time we made it to base of the volcano it had taken about 2 hours and pretty much everyone was messed up! It was great fun! Then we look up and see a plateau in the distance and what looks like a vertical climb to get to it. I managed to ask the Spanish tour guide if that where we're heading and had a little laugh when he replied 'yes' So me and another guy ...

... side. Luck was not on our side that night. At about 5 pm, the motor on the boat conked out and we were stranded. No matter what the driver did, the motor would not start... So we were up the creek with only 1 paddle. Chris started to paddle but we had a long way to go and the sun was going down. Four men in a dugout canoe passed us and lent us one heavy homemade broken paddle to us and the paddling started in ernest. The wind was against ...

... out there for a while. We saw lots of cool trees and some birds, an orchid house (but this time of year not many of the flowers were blooming). They had plants from the jungle, wetlands, savanah, and plains, which was nice to see. Until last night we hadn{t really had many mosquitos but everyone seemed to get some bites last night. We{ll see how we fair here in guatemala. I think its going to be a lot worse. The ...

... loaded up to go zip lining. None of us had ever been before but the beer had provided plenty of courage. It was a lot of fun. We all returned to El Muelle very hungry. We invited Franklin to join us for dinner and enjoyed a great meal. At that point he was trying to get us to hire him to take us to Guatemala City. We decided against it as we would have to pay to put him up and his car was pretty small for all of us. We said our goodbyes and stayed up late playing in the pool. <br>
