... out to check out Cayala. This brand new area, built with a very southern European character on a hill overlooking the city is probably the richest part of the country, while just 2km away from there are some of the poorest slums in the country. There was a huge Christmas tree in the square and awesome views of the city scape. it was probably not the kind of place I would have gone to, but I appreciated that Dulce wanted to show the best side of the city. Which then surprised me that I didn't see many non-local tourists around. This town was once the capital of the county and is now a UNESCO world ...

After another relaxing day at the pools of Semuc Champey, it was time to head off. After a 45 min pickup truck shuttle to Lanquin, an 8 hr shuttle to Antigua, long day of travel and wish I could go for a swim in the pools at Semuc. Antiqua is a medium sized town that has been rebuilt several times in the past do to natural earthquake and Spanish conquests, so there are some interesting old buildings and a colonial type architecture. Laying over in Antigua before heading out to Lake ...
