... caught a red tuk tuk there and walked back, and then it began to rain. Of course my umbrella was at the bus station. I forgot to mention that I had purchased my onward ticket to Guatemala City, which was to leave at 8am. ... pretty picturesque block all day! I didn’t really fancy Guatemala City as reviews hadn’t been great, so instead went down to the a place on the coast called Monterico as it has been awhile since I’d had any beach time.

Slept okeish, woke up at 4.30am feeling sweaty and cold (how is that possible?!?) and it was still raining!

Pretty much lied down in bed for another hour and then off we go! Boat trip back to Rio Dulce town and then on the crampiest bus/van ever. Drew the short straw and got the back window seat - eeek this is going to be an uncomfortable 10hr journey - tis 7.30am

... picante (spicy salsa) was delicious! Onward to the mercado and it felt like any large market in a developing country with clothes, toys, handicrafts, fruit and veg. It was very crowded and there wasn't anything we were interested in. A lot of the handicrafts are similar to the works in Peru and Bolivia.
