Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland dunkx... Circle marker. In the evening, we bought a bottle of wine for a remarkable 6 pounds and got ready to have a lovely meal out! We had a traditional Lappish started with a selection of cold meats, pates, cheese and delicacies. For the main we had a pot of shredded Reindeer meat and the smoothest mashed potato with local red berrys of some sort. It was AMAZING! Even if it did keep me, Kt, up all night with indigestion!<br>Our final day in Rovaniemi ...
Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland ktandash... ja lankaa. Kasperin repussa on kaiken edellä mainitun lisäksi myös mm. aurinkorasvoja ja hyttysmyrkkyä sisältävä pussukka. Näiden erilaisten nesteiden pakkaaminen pelkästään käsimatkatavaroihin on tietysti näiden nykyisten lentokenttäsääntöjen takia vähän haasteellista: aurinkorasvatuubienkin pitää tietysti olla niitä kaikkein pienimpiä eli enintään 100 ml. Kasperin reppuun on muuten pakattu myös kolme lahjapaketteihin käärittyä Marimekon ...
Rovaniemi, Finland amatsinrake... have been better if Santa park was open and if I saw Rudolph and a few of his reindeer friends. The entrance to Santa's Village The Arctic Circle - 66^ 32' 35'' After a few hours, I have had enough of this village and strengthens my notion that nowadays Christmas is too commercialized. So I head back to Rovaniemi. Being me, I can ...
Rovaniemi, Finland sd0744... into for coffee, and... You feel you are tired of all the music on your laptop, so instead you put your entire collection on random, and suddenly every song that plays is exactly what you wanted to hear but didn't realize. Or... Getting up in the morning is getting harder and harder as the hours of daylight get shorter, and one morning an early class has forced you out of bed in what was truly a feat of ...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... dog sledding, or Snowmobiles, but luckily there was enough to get a Reindeer sled ride. The helpful lady at the farm, gave us lots of interesting facts about Reindeer, and then hooked us up to one so we could go for a ride. I felt like I was Santa (not really, because it was very slow). We then went into an old Sami tent, where a fire was heating up some berry juice for us. We sat there hearing more ...
Rovaniemi, Finland bigbenn... feel very strongly that climate warming is one of the most urgent and important issues facing Canada today. I am only 26, and yet in my own lifetime I have witnessed the effects of climate change firsthand, in my hometown of Edmonton. My friends and I frequently comment to each other on how "when we were young", we used to have real winters, there was always snow on the ground by Halloween, and the kinds of bizarre weather that we have been ...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... and takes time to get there, it is better to have ideas that have stood these tests of process and the input of many in a visible process. You get that with academic peer-reviewed journals. You do not get that with books like ZAMM. Regardless of the merits of academia vs just writing your ideas down on paper and publishing them, I was starting to feel suspicious about the sweeping conclusions ZAMM was coming to, so I started googling. I found a number of websites ...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... at that age we are growing and changing so rapidly, each year is monumental and filled with change. so as i move into the post-quarter century club, i guess i am realizing how much happened in my 25th year. it wasn't always obvious (although some things like moving to a new country, starting a master's, falling in love, were i suppose), and it definitely wasn't all easy. but it feels good. i ...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... is finnish pole walking. people walking along at a brisk pace, on perfectly flat wide paved ashphalt trails that do not have a hint of ice or snow on them, with their ski poles clicking along in time. i had wondered about this for a while now, as i would jog past someone walking along with their poles by the university or river, but on this rare sunny day i witnessed a new level of pole walking. because, this pole walker was not a middle aged person in a typical finnish ...
